Of course, this will not dispel skepticism about other particular forms of induction, such as enumerative induction, but, as I shall note briefly in the concluding chapter, not only will the justification of the explanatory foundational theory lessen the impact of that form of skepticism appreciably, it will also, I believe, help provide a new approach to its refutation.
If that claim proves to be dubious, as I shall argue, then we can reject at least one of Unger's premises: either the premise that knowledge requires certainty, or the claim that reasonableness requires knowledge of reasons.
