Gay men, on the other hand, typically perceive that their sexual orientation is a given, a central aspect of themselves, and choice has little to do with it. Lesbians appear to perceive affectional orientation and political perspectives as central to self-definition, while gay men appear to view sexual behavior and sexual fantasy as central.
