As an intern, you learn the foundations of business, mechanical skills, art history, and illustration fundamentals—all on a one-to-one basis. Internships are just business as usual at better schools everywhere. As part of a school curriculum, these work situations aren’t necessarily paying gigs, although outside of academia, an internship (or bona fide apprenticeship) may warrant compensation.
