The World Health Organization (WHO) felt so confident about the effectiveness of the vaccine, that it ordered testing on a worldwide basis. In 1954, Sabin tested the vaccine on himself and his two daughters. In 1957, Sabin was invited to be involved with the administration of the vaccine in Mexico, Chile, Sweden, Japan, Holland, and the Soviet Union. Sabin, like Salk, did not patent his vaccine and did not profit from its discovery.
