The suggestion that SQOL measures of this type summarize the valuations the person places on the elements in his/her life that he/she deems important is drawn from the model of SQOL developed by Flanagan (1978, 1982) and also by Ferrans and Powers (1985), who define the individual’s evaluation of important life elements as underlying SQOL.
