There are several common assumptions of both traditional approaches. First, and most importantly, they take for granted the radical dichotomy of facts and values, categorical statements and value judgments, so strongly advocated by positivist, neo-positivist and all other “scientistic” models of science.

Sociological Syllogism Thus we come to the strongest, primary assumption shared by traditional approaches, namely that values do not follow from any facts (research results), nor any facts follow from values. This is a strict dichotomy of facts and values fundamental for positivist view of science.
