Definition domains store all units, structures, and paths that are constituents of a model. Definition domains generally contain fundamental classes, processes, and various other unit types. The main classes of definition domains are often copied and the new instances are used to do work within a specific problem.

5. The Unit Modeler can save immense amounts of time in creating applications. Programming from scratch would have taken a great deal of time. The model presented above can be created in minutes. We can now present the Information Unit Model in a more formal sense. 4, above, there are grayish rectangles with rounded corners. These are called Information Units. All of the models, their structures—both classes and processes—are composed of these Information Units. Although we have seen them in use, we have not defined them specifically.

As we will learn in the next section, Parts 1 to 4 above are referred to as classes and their lettered subitems are referred to as attributes of the classes.
