For the purpose of discussion IS is conceptualized as a combination of human and IT components operating within an organizational context (Byrd & Turner, 2000). The IT component includes hardware, software, storage, and networking and the human component includes the IS personnel/staff responsible for planning, development, operation, and maintenance of the human and IT components. One may conceptualize IS in many other elaborate ways spanning various levels and aspects of the organization, 30 the conceptualization adopted here is more apt for treating IS as an artifact with well defined boundaries incorporating both technical and human components.
